6.9M Va. Powerball tickets expected to be sold Saturday

Lottery officials are estimating that 6.9 million Powerball tickets will be sold in Virginia on Saturday.

Residents are racing to buy tickets ahead of Saturday night’s drawing for a chance at the jackpot, which has reached $900 million.

Virginia Lottery officials say they expect that 13,800 tickets will be sold every minute across Virginia at peak times on Saturday.

The drawing will be held at 10:59 p.m. EST. Ticket sales end at 10 p.m.

Officials say a winner would have the option of being paid $900 million through annual payments over 29 years or opting for a $558 million lump-sum cash payout.
