UPDATE: Wanted Milford sex offender arrested in Wilmington

Police in Milford say a wanted sex offender is back in custody.

Milford Police say back in October, Detectives looking for 39-year-old Joseph Smith Jr., of Milford, visited his registered address on Marshall Street, after he failed to re-register, and verify his address and other personal information for his tier 3 sex offender status.

Police say during the investigation they found that Smith no longer lived there, and did not have the same employer. Police say Smith had fled the area. A warrant was put out for his arrest, according to Police.

On December 11, Wilmington Police reportedly found Smith in their jurisdiction, and arrested him on the Milford PD warrant. He was charged with failure to re-register as a sex offender, and arraigned. Smith is now being held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $2,000 secured bond.
