UPDATE: Lewes man sentenced after pleading guilty to manslaughter

Rashai Harmon, 26, of Lewes, DE

Rashai Harmon will spend the next 25 years in prison. Harmon is the Lewes man who fled from police and crashed into a car killing a retired police detective.

According to the Delaware Department Of Justice, Rashai Harmon agreed to a plea deal in October where he agreed to plead guilty to manslaughter, reckless endangering, and disregarding a police signal.

Earlier this year, Harmon was a wanted fugitive for violating his probation and terroristic threatening.

Back in March, Delaware state troopers managed to track him down. However, it was in the process of trying to flee from police that Harmon struck the victim’s vehicle on Harbeson Road.

74-year-old Charles Permint, a retired Philadelphia Police detective, was a passenger in that car. He was transported to the hospital, but did not survive.
