UPDATE: Crisfield father sentenced after daughter’s death

The Crisfield man charged in the August for the death of his six-week old daughter is now set to spend a decade in prison.
According to Somerset County State’s Attorney Dan Powell, Matthew Holbook will spend 10 years behind bars after he entered an alford plea to manslaughter and second degree assault Wednesday.
According to charging documents, Holbrook admitted to police that he had struck his daughter twice in the head. Once with a game controller a few weeks prior to her death and then again with a water bottle on the day of her death.
An autopsy from the medical examiner’s office revealed the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head resulting in hemorrhaging to the brain.
We’re told after his prison term, Holbook was ordered three years of supervised probation with anger management and parenting classes. He was also given a no contact order with the baby’s mother.
