U.S. Military eyes adaptation challenges with climate change

Tuesday marked the second day of the U.N. Climate conference in Paris.
Leaders from 150 nations, plus thousands of delegates, are at the COP21 conference with the mission to tackle climate change on a political level.
Some experts in the United States say the U.S military is a leading agency to voice their concerns on adapting to climate change.
According to Dr. Sarah Surak, who teaches both Political Science and Environmental Studies at Salisbury University, there are concerns about naval dry-docks becoming inundated if see levels rise.
“As the sea begins to rise…the question is, are they going to have to take measures to sort of dike off the naval base?” She explains. “Is it going to have to move further north where sea levels keep rising, you know? All of these things have become quite complicated so two degrees is not an optimal solution…but it’s going to be what we were going to have to manage and deal with.”
The COP21 conference is expected to last through December 11.
