“Tips For Tots” kicks off Wednesday

If you’re eating at the Green Turtle on Wednesday, you may want to be extra generous.

Employees will be donating 100 percent of their tips to Toys For Tots. This is all a part of the Greene Turtle’s 10th annual Tips For Tots initiative, which happens in Maryland, Delaware, New York, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Last year, the restaurant chain raised more than 60,000 dollars for local programs. This year its goal is to raise more than 70,000.

Sarah Nikolich is a server at the Greene Turtle in Salisbury and explains the event has a great turnout.

“It’s not a typical day in the restaurant or a typical day in the bar.” She says, “People look forward to this event because it’s like a giant party to raise money for.”

At the Salisbury location alone, Nikolich says they raised over 6,000 dollars in tips last year. This surpassed their initial goal of 5,000 dollars.
