Space heater reportedly to blame for Chestertown house fire

An early morning house fire in Chestertown has been ruled accidental. The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says a passerby reported the fire at a two story Baker’s Lane home, around 5:15 AM on Monday.
50 firefighters from both Chestertown and Kennedyville Volunteer Fire Departments reportedly responded to the scene, and had the flames under control in two hours.
Investigators say they found that the fire started on an enclosed patio at the back of the house, by a space heater that was too close to combustibles. Damages are estimated to total $220,000. No injuries were reported.
