Salisbury participates in Giving Tuesday

You’ve heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but what you might not have heard about is Giving Tuesday, a nationally recognized day focused on giving back to your community.

As part of that, Tuesday Salisbury Neighborhood Housing Services and Parkside High School’s CTE program welcomed the public to support their local project.

Members of the public were allowed to write a wish for happiness on a hurricane rafter that will go on the new home that the CTE program is building.

That new home will then be sold by Salisbury Neighborhood Housing Services at a lower rate to a family in need to promote home ownership in the area.

“I wanted something that if the house sells in 25 years from now to someone else that no matter who takes ownership of it and whose it is, feels that immediate connection to the community, that they know their under a roof that was built by the hands of local community students,” said Alison Pulcher with Salisbury Neighborhood Housing Services.

Salisbury Neighborhood Housing Services also accepted donations at the event that will go to funding the construction of the home the students are currently constructing, and future homes that the CTE program will build.
