Salisbury man accused of assaulting nephew over Pokémon cards

A Salisbury man is behind bars, after Investigators say he assaulted his nephew over playing cards.
The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office says on December 22 around 4:40 PM, a Deputy responded to a home on Phillip Morris Drive, for reports of an altercation. Once on scene, the Deputy learned that a 5-year-old child had reportedly been assaulted by their uncle, 29-year-old Kyle Burford.
The altercation reportedly occurred after Burford found that the child was playing with their uncle’s Pokémon cards. Burford apparently hit the child hard enough to knock him off his feet, and into a wall. Investigators say they live in the same home.
Burford was arrested, and charged with child abuse second degree, and assault second degree. He had an initial appearance with the District Court Commissioner, and was ordered to be held on a $20,000 bond at the Wicoico County Detention Center.
