Police: Two arrested for marijuana and gun possession

Two people were arrested on drug and firearm charges after nearly hitting a police vehicle, according to Dover Police.
The incident happened just after 8:00 p.m. Thursday when officers from the Street Crimes Unit were patrolling in the area of Mary Street and North West Street. According to police reports, a red Pontiac Grand Am nearly struck their vehicle as it was traveling on the wrong side of the road.
Police attempted to stop the vehicle, and it eventually turned into a chase. The driver of the car, identified as 24-year-old Dover man Alex Durham, reportedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the Wesley College tennis courts on the corner of Cecil and New Streets.

During a search of the scene, officers located a Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun loaded with 8 rounds of ammunition. An investigation later revealed the gun to be stolen.
Police also say Durham was allegedly operating the vehicle under the influence and in possession of marijuana.
Caldwell was also found in possession of marijuana and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia. She was released on unsecured bond.

He faces charges of Possession of a Firearm by Person Prohibited, Possession with Intent to Deliver Marijuana, Receiving Stolen Firearm, Resisting Arrest, DUI, Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony, and multiple traffic charges.
