Pocomoke Steals A Big Win At Home Over Decatur
The Pokomoke Warriors hosted the Stephen Decatur Seahawks or the biggest game in the Bayside so far this 2015-2016 season. Both the Warriors and the Seahawks were undefeated heading into Monday nights big game before Christmas break starts on Tuesday.
It was a back and forth game between the teams with perfect seasons throughout ye first half. The Warriors took a big lead after the first quarter outscoring the Seahawks 18-7, but the teams switched roles in the second quarter. The Seahawks settled down, moved the ball around, and started playing Decatur basketball. After trailing 13 points, the Seahawks turned on the jets and eventually took the 26-25 lead heading into halftime after Keve Aluma hit two big free throws to end the second quarter.
Entering the second half, the Pocomoke Warriors came out of the locker room ready to get the win and took control throughout the second half, despite Tyler Nixon and Leander Roberts returning to the floor with 3 fouls apiece. Eventually, Roberts fouled out on a technical four doing a pull-up on the rim while his team had a 17 point lead. Other players on the team stepped up, including Tyrone Matthews who totaled up a game-high 23 points and took for the game-ball for helping lead this Pocomoke squad to a 72-59 win over the Seahawks.
On the other side, Torrey Brittingham closed out the game with a team-high of 22 points in his second game back on the hardwood.
This sold out game was a lot of fun to watch and fans will get to see another match up between these teams, but Decatur will have the home-court advantage in the next game.
