Pocomoke Cruises Past Wi-Hi

The Pocomoke boys basketball team hit the road Thursday night and cruised past Wi-Hi 84-60. The win improves the Warriors to 3-0, while the loss drops the Indians to 1-2.

Pocomoke would jump out to a quick lead thanks to their high pressure full court trap. They would force the Indians into several turnovers as Tyler Nixon and Tyrone Matthews would finish at the other end as they took a 42-16 lead. The Tribe would settle down from there as Barry Gaines Jr. and Jordan Brittingham would try and lead them back, both finishing with 17 points. WiHi would trail 46-26 at the half, and continue to chip away at the deficit in the 3rd quarter. Once the lead seemed to be withing striking distance, Pocomoke picked back up their pressure and would put the game away. LiCurtis Whitney would control the offensive glass and power his way to a game high 25 points as they closed the door. Nixon finished with 13 points while Jerrick Johnson added 13 points and Matthews had 10 points.

Pocomoke returns to work Tuesday when they travel to Kent Island, while WiHi travels to Crisfield on Monday.
