Pedestrian recovering after serious crash in Dover

The Dover Police Department say, On Wednesday around 7:00 PM a 58-year-old victim was leaving Bayhealth Kent General Hospital and crossing South State Street to get to Skull Terrace. While in the crosswalk, police say a Ford Fusion that was traveling northbound, struck the victim.

The victim was reportedly transported to Bayhealth and later transported to Christiana Medical Center with serious injuries including multiple pelvic fractures, broken ribs, and internal bleeding.

Police say, speed does not appeared to be a factor in the crash, however the driver of the vehicle was cited for the following offenses: inattentive driving causing serious physical injury, failure to yield to pedestrians in crosswalk, and failure to possess a valid insurance card.
