Parkside holds on in final seconds to sink the Bucs

Xavier Waters hit two free throws with 6 seconds left in a tie game as the Parkside Rams escaped Kent Island with a 85-83 win.

The Rams led for most of the game, and pushed that lead to 10 points (55-44) midway thru the fourth quarter, before Kent Island went on an unbelievable run, and got the lead down to just five (76-71) with 2:28 remaining.

After trading a few buckets and fouling, Kent Island would tie the game up on a three pointer with 6 seconds left from junior wing Tariq Johnson. Immediately after Johnson’s three, the Bucs inexplicably fouled, sending Waters to the line to escape with the win.

Ray Williams and Gary Briddell both finished with 20 points a piece to lead the Rams. Johnson finished with a game-high 31, and Bucs’ big man Ben Young finished with 18.
