One arrest, two jurisdictions, several charges for one Milford man

James J. Cuevas Jr., 30, of Milford, Del.

A Milford man is facing charges, after Police say he stole a woman’s purse in Walmart and assaulted a woman in his home.

Milford Police say on Sunday, Officers responded to a home on Lynch Road to meet with 30-year-old James Cuevas Jr., who was wanted in connection with a theft. According to the report, Cuevas was wanted in connection to a felony theft that happened at Walmart on December 1.

During that investigation, Police say they learned that Cuevas had taken a 73-year-old woman’s purse from her shopping cart, before fleeing the store. He was also apparently wanted for questioning in an investigation into an armed robbery at a local business.

Police say when they arrived at the home, Cuevas refused to leave, prompting Delaware State Police to respond to assist. While on scene, Police say they learned that Cuevas had been involved in a domestic dispute, during which he injured a woman.

After a short period of time, Police say Cuevas left the home, and was taken into custody, where he was charged with felony theft under $1,500 victim 62-years-old or older by the Milford Police, and domestic related charges by Delaware State Police. He was later arraigned, and ordered to be held on a $29,250 bond at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center.
