North bests South in Senior All-Star Game

The Bayside North topped the Bayside South 20-3 in the Eastern Shore Bowl on Saturday afternoon in Viking Stadium at Cambridge High School.

The South got on the board first, when a 38 yard field goal by Bennett Linebacker Drew Mengason went through the uprights late in the first quarter. The North would respond with a scoring drive that culminated with Nate Lowe of Cambridge hitting Anton Black of North Caroline with an 18 yard touchdown strike. Kent County quarterback Stevie Curran would nail a 40 yard field goal just before half, to give the North a 10-3 lead going into the break.

Curran would nail another field goal from 41 yards out, to give the North a 2 score lead with 12:50 remaining in the 4th. Parkside running back Tra’jon Branch would cough the ba up at the North’s 6 yard line, prompting the North to go on a long, clock eating drive, resulting in a 10 yard JoJo Marasco touchdown run, to put the South ahead 20-3.

Drew Mengason was named offensive MVP of the South with his field goal, while Kenny Jackson of North Caroline (20 carries, 113 yards) took home honors for the North.
