New details surrounding Wicomico Co. toddler death

New details surrounding the death of a 16-month-old girl in Sharptown.
According to court documents, Darren Adkins eventually admitted to shaking the child because he wanted to quiet her down. Police say they were initially told the girl had fallen in her *pack ‘n play* apparatus.
The child was taken to PRMC, then transferred to Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., where she was later pronounced dead.
Court documents say a doctor at PRMC told authorities that the child had bleeding on the brain and had bruising on both sides of her face and neck, which was not consistent with the initial story.
When he was questioned again, Adkins reportedly admitted to shaking the child.
Adkins was arrested last week, he’s charged with First and Second Degree Child Abuse and other related charges. He is being held without bond.
