Mardela holds on late to lay down Lions

The Mardela Girls basketball team got their first win if the season, defeating Queen Anne’s 46-38 in the first game in the Inaugural Peake Tipoff Saturday afternoon at Chesapeake College.

The Warriors took an 18-13 lead into halftime, and continued to work in the second half. Mardela led 27-16 after the third quarter, before the Lions went on a run in the fourth. QA went on a 17-9 run to pull within three, before Mardela pulled away.

Taylor Ross and Arieonna Joynes finished with 11 points a piece, while Armani Banks finished with 7. Emma Hill scored a game-high 24 for the Lions in the loss.
