Mallards use strong defensive effort to slay Dragons

The Worcester Prep girls basketball team earned a good conference win on Wednesday night, defeating Salisbury School 49-14 in Berlin.

Prep jumped out to a 12-4 lead after one quarter, and would hold a 22-9 after halftime. The Mallards would begin to put the game away in the third when they outscored Salisbury School 13-4, going on to the 35 point win.

Prep was led by Karlie Southcomb, who poured in a game-high 11 points. Melissa Laws had a game-high 12 rebounds to go along with her eight points for the Mallards. Guard Olivia Bescak notched 6. For Salisbury School, Darcie Howard and Emily Buffer scored four points a piece.
