Laurel man arrested after apparently assaulting store employee during theft

A Laurel man is facing charges, after Police say he assaulted a store employee while shoplifting.

Seaford Police say on Thursday just before 7:00 PM, Officers responded to the Peebles parking lot on Sussex Highway, for reports of a fight. Once on scene, Officers found that 33-year-old Katrail Williams had shoplifted from the Peebles, and fled from the store.

According to the report, loss prevention employees then found Williams in the parking lot, during which Williams hit one of the employees. The employees were apparently able to detain Williams until Officers arrived on scene.

Williams was then arrested, during which Police say they found drug paraphernalia and a pair of wire cutters on Williams. He was then taken to the Seaford Police Department, and charged with robbery, offensive touching, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of shoplifters tools. Williams is being held at the Sussex Correctional Institute on a $9,400 secured bond.
