Lady Jags Roll To Season Opening Road Win

The Washington girls basketball team picked up a road win Friday night when they defeated Saint Michaels 71-15. The win improves the Jaguars to 1-0, while the loss drops the Saints to 0-1. The win also marks the first in the career of head coach Danny Lamb.

The Jaguars came out of the gate on fire form the floor, led by their dynamic freshman Danasia Roberts. She attacked the rim off the dribble, controlled the glass, and was a defensive menace on her way to finishing with 32 points, 18 rebounds, 4 assist and 6 steals in her first varsity game. Her team would grab a big lead, but the Saints would try and battle back. Their guard Melissa would find a shooting touch from the outside as she would try and get the offense going, but it was Washington’s night. Once Roberts gave her team a healthy lead, Kayla Robinson would put it away, adding 13 points and 4 rebounds of her own.

Washington returns to the court Tuesday when they travel to Parkside, while Saint Michaels host Easton on Tuesday.
