A jury has been selected for Corporal Thomas Webster’s trial. He’s the Dover Police officer who allegedly assaulted Lateef Dickerson by kicking him in the face and breaking his jaw back in 2013.

There were one- hundred and fifty people in the jury pool on Monday. It took more than four hours to select the final sixteen.

Twelve people will serve as primary jurors and four as alternates. Thirteen women and three men make up the group.

Also in court on Monday, the state extended a plea offer that would change Webster’s current charge of a felony to a misdemeanor. However, it’s under the condition that he can never be a police officer again. Webster rejected the plea.

His defense team asked the judge to dismiss the entire case citing an unnecessary pre-trial delay. However, that request was denied.

Webster was indicted and arrested this past May. He’s facing one count of assault in the second degree. His trial is scheduled to begin Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m.

Officials tell 47 ABC it’s expected to last five days.
