Georgetown man charged in two theft incidents

A Georgetown man is facing charges, after Police say he stole items from several homes that he was invited to.

Georgetown Police say on December 8 Officers responded to a home on Park Avenue for a theft complaint. During their investigation, Police say they found that 34-year-old Christopher Altoe was hired to do some construction on the home. Police say during that time, Altoe had the residents leave the home to approve the work he had done. Police say the homeowner then went to look at the job, while Alton went into the home, and took a handgun from inside.

Altoe then reportedly fled the home, with the firearm. He later turned himself in, after Police say they got in contact with him. He was then charged with theft of a firearm, burglary 2nd degree, and possession of a firearm by persons prohibited, and held on a $15,000 bond.

On December 14, Officers responded to a home on Silverberry Street, for a theft compliant. During their investigation, Officers say they learned that Altoe had been at the home on December 8. Police say during that time he took jewelry from the home, and pawned it at a store in Lewes.

After the second arrest, he was charged with burglary 2nd degree, theft from a person 62 years or older, theft by false pretense, and falsifying business records. He was then held again by the Department of Correction on a $10,000 secured bond.
