Easton Controls Paint, Edge Crisfield In Opener

The Easton basketball team opened up their season at home with a very impressive 66-33 win over Crisfield. The win improves the Warriors to 1-0 on the year, while the Crabbers drop to 0-1.

The teams would be in a battle early on. Ryan Hall and Tyquan Beckett would control the paint, coming up with several rebounds and put back buckets. But the Crabbers full court press was causing headaches for the Warriors, as they had trouble with turnovers that would lead to several easy buckets for Kevin Fisher. The Warriors would call a timeout down 1 early and would begin to space the floor better and manage the press. Easton would take a 21-18 lead after the first, but find their shooting touch in the second. Jack Wheatley would connect on a couple long balls as the Crabbers had to start extending their defense. Once Easton was able to beat the press and take away the easy transition baskets, Crisfields offense sputtered and came to a stop. Wheatley would bank in a three just before the half to give the home team the momentum headed into the locker room, and they never looked back in the second half.

Easton returns to action Tuesday when they travel to Saint Michaels, while Crisfield travels to Holly Grove on Monday.
