DSP charge man in connection to home improvement fraud

Members of the Delaware State Police say following the investigation of multiple home improvement fraud cases in the Millsboro area, they arrested Brett Johnson, 32, of Magnolia.
Police say the incidents began in April 2015 when Johnson, working under Johnson’s Custom Carpentry, was hired by several victims to work on their homes in the Millsboro area.
According to Troopers, Johnson would offer a verbal proposal to the victims, who in turn gave him a deposit totaling more than $9,600.00. Troopers say following the deposit, none of the work has been started and Johnson never returned the victim’s money even after several requests.
Police say between April 2015 and June 2015, Johnson was hired by five local residents, and during this time he made contact with his victims saying he would do other side jobs for them as well, but never followed through with any work.
Troopers say Johnson was arrested and processed at Troop 4 in Georgetown. He was arraigned and charged with five counts of Home Improvement Fraud-Receive Money for Services not Completed and five counts of Theft by False Pretenses and was released on $5,000.00 unsecured bond.
