Delmarva’s Polar Express

The Polar Express, a beloved book, a popular movie and now a unique dining experience at The Salted Rim in Ocean View, Delaware. Train carts outside of the restaurant have been decorated to mimic The Polar Express. They have made it even more fun, by having people dress in their pajamas to enjoy the experience.
Karen Fitz, the owner of The Salted Rim says, “When you check in you’re going to be with Mrs. Claus at that time she will give you a golden ticket which is how you board the train.”
47 ABC caught up with the Caldwell family who was experiencing it for the first time.
“I’m really excited to see how he reacts. He loves trains. He loves watching movies. He loves being around his pajamas and this is such a cool event,” says Greg Caldwell.
Once everyone’s tickets are punched Santa’s elves takes their passengers to a buffet dinner, which is then shortly followed by one of the most famous scenes in the movie.
“The hot chocolate scene is huge in the movie so of course when the hot chocolate scene comes knew are distributing by chocolate to all the boys and girls,” says Fitz.
However, this trip would not be complete without a special visitor from the North Pole.
“Santa Claus holds them and they look right in his eyes. They pet his beard. They give him hugs, they give them kisses, they give them their half eaten cookies. It’s just wonderful,” says Fitz.
Rides on The Polar Express will continue until January 2nd, just check times and dates on the Salted Rim’s website. The restaurant will also be taking donations for Toys for Tots in the upcoming days.
