Decatur Girls Stay Perfect, Top Washington

Stephen Decatur’s girls basketball stayed perfect on the year Thursday night when they traveled to Washington and rolled to a 78-27. The Seahawks improved to 5-0, while Washington falls to 1-4.

The Seahawks came out of the gate and would take a big lead thanks to their full court pressure. Dayona Godwin would cause havoc for the Jags guards, forcing several turnovers and turning them into easy points the other way. Then once they were set up in the half court, she was still able to find Laxi VanKirk or Amaya Mumford on the blocks for scores as well. Decatur would take a huge lead into half, but Washington wasn’t giving in. Danasia Roberts would try and give them a spark by getting a couple buckets underneath as she led her team with 20 points. But Decatur wasn’t going to let them back in the game as Godwin continued to light up the scoreboard, finishing with a game high 23 points.

Stephen Decatur returns to action Monday when they host Pocomoke, while Washington travels to Mardela on Tuesday.
