DE Sportsman’s caucus focusing on making hunting more accessible

The newly formed Sportsman’s Caucus is putting the accessibility of hunting for the handicapped at the top of their list.

The caucus’ inaugural meeting took place in November.

We’re told Delaware had 16,000 licensed hunters in 2014 a number that Senator Dave Lawson tells 47 ABC is not high enough.

Senator Lawson tells us that some things have already been done to help the handicapped hunt such as make both deer and duck blinds more accessible as well as trails.

He tells us that expanding upon what is already in place would make a big difference in the lives of disabled veterans in the state.

“People who were hunters before, they go off and fight for this country, they come back wounded, and they can’t do what they used to do. Even those who are being introduced for the first time, their spirits are lifted, just being out there and showing camaraderie,”, Senator Lawson tells 47 ABC.

The caucus will meet for the second time on January 14th.
