Congress approves money for Maryland infrastructure improvements

Needed changes could be coming to Maryland’s infrastructure, after Congress passed the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act, or FAST, on Thursday.

The legislation that would bring $4.4 billion in federal funding to Maryland for highways and transit over the next five years.

Sen. Barbara Mikulksi says the bill would provide a much needed shot in the arm to rebuild and restore the state’s aging transportation infrastructure.

The bill is now waiting to be signed into law by the White House.
