Cape comes back to defeat Milford

The Cape Henlopen Vikings were down 62-59 without the ball, with 1:03 to play, only to come storming back to force overtime, and stun Milford 72-64 in Lewes.

Henry Nesmith came out of the gates on fire for Milford, pouring in 10 points in the first quarter, and 15 points over the first ten minutes of play.

At the break, Milford held a 34-30 lead, with Nesmith finishing with 17 in the half, and Damon Coleman with 13 off the bench for the Bucs.

Cape would make a run in the second half, leaning on sophomore forward Ian Robertson. After being tied at 45 after 3, Robertson led Cape with 10 points in the first half, and got Cape their first lead of the second half with 6:21 to go in game. After the team’s traded buckets, Nesmith would drain back to back threes, to give Milford some space. Despite holding a 6 point lead with 3 minutes to play, Milford failed to knock down free throws as Cape was able to knot the game up at 63.

In the overtime period, Cape outscored Milford 9-1, led by Robertson’s 8 points, including 6-6 from the free throw line.
