Cambridge man arrested on weapons charges during traffic stop

A traffic stop in Cambridge, reportedly led to the arrest of a man on drug and weapons charges.

Cambridge Police say on Monday, Officers stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Goodwill Avenue and Washington Street, for a traffic violation. During the stop, a K-9 responded, and scanned the vehicle, and alerted to the presence of narcotics.

Police say they then searched vehicle, and found a .38 revolver handgun with the serial number obliterated, in the back seat. After the discovery, Investigators say a passenger, 22-year-old Eric Taylor, of Cambridge, said it was his handgun, and was taken into custody. During his arrest, Police say they found marijuana in his possession. Taylor was then charged with handgun in vehicle, illegal possession of reg. firearm, illegal possession of ammo, and altering firearm id number, along with possession of marijuana less than ten grams. He is now being held at the Dorchester County Detention Center on a $225,000 bond.
