Bill pushing for home wine shipments in Delaware

The state of Delaware happens to be one of seven in the U.S. that bans home wine shipments.

However, State House Representative Deborah Hudson is hoping to change that will her bill. She says right now lots of people get bottles shipped to their home, but it’s illegal.

Her bill has bipartisan support, but it’s getting some push back from labor unions. She says they fear there would be a lack of wine sales in local liquor stores if the bill passes. However, Hudson doesn’t see that happening.

Representative Hudson continues, “So much of what would be shipped would not be carried in a local store. They would be special blends, special years, unique things, and they certainly wouldn’t be the local favorites that we all go to our local store to buy.”

Hudson’s bill is currently in the House Economic Development, Banking, Insurance and Commerce Committee.
