Accomack Co. SBA office opens for disaster loans

In Virginia, an outreach center has opened to help Accomack County residents and businesses seek help with disaster loans following Hurricane Sandy.
The Melfa center, which is set up through the the U.S. Small Business Administration (“SBA”) will be staffed Monday through Friday.
It appears there are two-million dollars worth of funding available for eligible businesses and non-profits to use for repairs or to replace damaged or destroyed real estate.
Up to 200,000 dollars in loans are available for homeowners.
Debra Freeland, a Public Affairs Specialist at SBA, says loans have been offered for people and businesses affected by Hurricane Sandy but this is another chance to get help.
“The thing is, we’re just trying to get everybody the opportunity to make sure we touched everybody that needed to apply.” Says Freeland. “But we wanted them to know our interest rates are as low as 1.688 percent for homeowners and renters .”
Folks have until December 2016 to apply for these loans.
