Wicomico County celebrate Veterans Day

In Salisbury, community members took their time to celebrate veterans in front of the Wicomico County War Museum on Wednesday in honor of Veterans Day.

Veterans Day is set aside to honor and thank living veterans who served honorably in the in the military.

Apparently, many Americans confuse this holiday with Memorial Day. That holiday is reserved to honor service members who died in service or as a direct result of injuries while in battle.

47 ABC spoke with some local veterans who told us what Veterans Day means to them.

Walter Webster, a U.S. Army Veteran says, “It means a lot to be back home and see these little children have their freedom. It’s a blessing.”

Ed Burgess, a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran says, “It means so much that people appreciate what everybody in the military has done. There are a lot of people that didn’t make it.”

TGST Daniel Mills serving in the U.S. Air Force says, “It’s a day to honor those who sacrificed everything. A lot of times we take it for granted. We think of all the things that are going on and all the free stuff that veterans might get, but it’s really about the ones that sacrificed everything.”
