Warriors win thriller on road to advance to regional final

The Pocomoke Warriors volleyball team won a thriller in the 1A East Section II final, defeating Colonel Richardson 3-2.

A back and forth affair all night long, Colonel got the game started with a 25-16 win, but Pocomoke fought right back in the second set, building up a 8-3 lead early, and cruising to a 25-15 win.

The third set was a push all the way throughout. The teams were tied at 11, 12, 13, and 14 until Colonel rattled off three huge points to take advantage of the set, and win it 25-18. Like set 2, Pocomoke came out hard in set four, blazing out to a 9-1 lead. Colonel would make a huge push in the set, eventually falling 25-22.

The final set would be alot like the third, with neither team pulling away or gaining an advantage of more than two points. Colonel led 14-11, but a bad serve would put the ball back into the Warriors hands. Colonel rolled off 3 straight points to tie the game, and then took the final two to win 17-15.

The Warriors will now compete in their first regional championship since 2004, when they travel Friday, November 11th, to take on Perryville. The match is set for 5 p.m.
