Vikings falter at final minutes at Havre de Grace

After a scoreless first quarter, Havre de Grace broke thru when quarterback Mike Flosser found Isaiah Brown for a 10 yard touchdown. After being stood up at the one yard line and turning the ball over on downs, Cambridge got into the endzone when Tre Lake found his way on a sweep from 7 yards out. Lake would also blast in for the two point conversion, giving Cambridge a 8-7 lead going into the locker room for halftime.

In the second half, both offenses came to life. Cambridge would recover an onside kick and score on the ensuing drive when Vikings quarterback Nate Lowe hit Jake Morris for a 31 yard touchdown.

Trailing 15-7, Flosser and the Warriors would respond quickly. The junior would throw two touchdown passes on consecutive drives, a 40 yarder to Josh Penn, and a 25 yarder to Jordan Day. Clinching a 19-15 lead late in the third quarter, the Warriors would force a Lowe fumble, but not be able to turn it into points. Instead, Lowe engineered a touchdown drive of his own when the Vikings got the ball back, finding Dre Greene in the front corner of the endzone for an amazing go-ahead touchdown with 7:48 remaining.

After Cambridge stopped them the previous drive, Flosser would get his team to the Cambridge 31, with less than a minute and a half to go. Flosser would drop back, and hit Isaiah Jackson for the go ahead score with 1:10 to go. Cambridge would get the ball back to attempt a comeback, but Lowe was picked off by Josh Penn to seal the game.

Cambridge finishes it’s season 9-3, and runner up to the 1A East region.
