UPDATE: Somerset Co. teacher killed in crash in Fruitland

A crash which took the life of a Somerset County teacher, on Sunday evening in Fruitland, remains under investigation.

Fruitland Police say just before 5:50 PM, Officers, along with Fire and EMS responded to Route 13 at Main Street, for reports of a crash. Once on scene, first responders reportedly found two vehicles involved in a crash, with five occupants total.

According to the report, all five occupants were taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center, with injuries ranging from minor to life threatening. Police say 48-year-old Angela Brinkley was unable to be revived, and was pronounced dead at PRMC.

Route 13 and Main Street were closed for several hours while the crash was investigated, and cleared. Investigators say neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to be a factor at this time, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation. The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit also apparently assisted in the investigation at the scene.

According to officials with the Somerset County School System, Brinkley was a special education teacher at Washington High School.

In a statement to 47 ABC a spokesman said, “She was an outstanding person and it is a great loss to the school system.”

We’re told school staff met this morning, and made school counselors available to any students who made need them.
