UPDATE: Fatal collision along Route 13 investigated

Members of the Delaware State Police say they are investigating what caused a fatal crash northbound on Route 13 at Dyke Branch Road.

Troopers say the crash happened around 9:00 P.M. Wednesday. According to police, Martha Barbo, 52, was stopped at a stop sign attempting to cross Route 13. Troopers say Barbo accelerated and collided with another vehicle that was traveling northbound on Route 13.

According to State Police, the driver of the other vehicle was transported to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say Route 13 northbound was closed for about three hours while the crash was investigated.
