UPDATE: Arrest made in January murder in Dover

Darryl Garner, 21, of Camden, Del.

Police in Dover say they have charged a Camden man, in a January murder investigation.

Dover Police say 18-year-old Jordan Peck was found dead on January 25, around 10:30 AM, near the railroad tracks between Division Street and Walker Road. Peck reportedly suffered two gunshots, one to his head, and one to his upper torso.

Police say during their investigation, they learned that Peck was planning on meeting 21-year-old Darryl Garner, before his death, which was confirmed by Garner and surveillance footage, early in the investigation. Garner however, apparently was untruthful with Detectives while questioned, despite the evidence that detectives had, at the time.

Police say they then used that evidence to search a location, where they found the clothing that was worn by Garner, on the night of Jordan Peck’s death. That clothing apparently then tested positive for gunshot residue.

According to Authorities, that evidence, along with witness statements collected over the following months, led to the November 9 arrest of Garner for first degree murder, possession of a deadly weapon during commission of felony, possession of firearm by person prohibited, and theft under $1,500. Police clarify that Garner has been behind bars since January 26, on unrelated rape charges.
