Two Bridgeville men arrested in string of robberies

Members of the Delaware State Police say they have arrested Kenneth Fairbank Jr., 31, and Shane J. Fairbank, 30, both of Bridgeville, in connection to a string of burglaries and thefts in the area.

Police say the men were arrested after investigators identified a criminal trend on Monday, November 9, 2015.

Troopers say that on Wednesday, November 11, they responded to a residence on Meadow Drive for a report of a burglary.

According to police, that victim advised the burglars entered through an unsecured garage and medication was stolen. Police say there was also an attempted burglary at another address on Meadow Drive.

Investigators say the men were seen opening a storm door and pulled the door handle while trying to break into the home. According to Troopers, it did not stop there. Both suspects were reportedly later seen in the neighborhood and were apprehended by police and the DSP Canine Unit.

Authorities say they took the suspects into custody at that point.

Through further investigation troopers say they could link the Fairbanks to several other burglaries and thefts in the Bridgeville area. Investigators add that in most of the incidents, the two suspects would enter the unsecured residences and unsecured vehicles at night, and stole money, prescription medication and other miscellaneous items.

Police charged Shane Fairbank with four counts of Burglary 2nd Degree, two counts of Burglary 3rd Degree, Attempted Burglary 2nd degree, Criminal Trespass 3rd degree, Felony theft, four counts of Theft, two counts of attempted theft, two counts of Attempt to Acquire or Obtain Possession of a Controlled Substance by Theft, two counts of Conspiracy 2nd degree, two counts of Criminal Mischief.

Troopers say Kenneth Fairbank Jr., 31 was charged with Burglary 2nd Degree, Attempted Burglary 2nd degree, Attempt to Acquire or Obtain Possession of a Controlled Substance by Theft, Attempted Theft, two counts of Conspiracy 2nd degree dwelling.

Police say both were arraigned and held at the Delaware Department of Corrections. Shane Fairbank was reportedly held on $71,250.00 secured bond. Kenneth Fairbank, Jr., was reportedly held on $28,000.00 secured bond.

Troopers urge all residents to be cautious of their belongings, and make sure to lock all vehicles and doors to garages, houses, etc.
