Starbucks customers brew up controversy over holiday cups

Starbucks customers have brewed up some controversy over the company’s new red holiday cups.

In the past, Starbucks has used holiday prints like reindeer and ornaments on their cups. However this year, the company vice president said they, “wanted to usher in the holidays with a purity of design that welcomes all of our stories.”

Critics have accused Starbucks of waging a war on Christmas. People have been spotted going into the coffee shop and telling the barista their name is “Merry Christmas”

The goal is to have Starbucks employees write “Merry Christmas” on their cups. The photos have been going viral on social media. 47 ABC asked folks in Salisbury what they thought of the issue.

David Cropper says, “It’s not that big of a difference. We’re all going to throw it away anyways. It’s not like we’re going to keep it and put some special touch to it.”

Donnie Ambrosao says, “I think it’s ridiculous. I’m not thinking about what color I’m putting my coffee in. I just want it in.”

Tucker Sullivan says, “I just think they’re people just trying to find a way to publicly impose thief beliefs on other people.”
