Salisbury man charged after reportedly fleeing from Deputy on stolen ATV

A Salisbury man is facing charges, after he apparently fled from Police on a stolen all terrain vehicle.
The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office says on Friday around 4:45 PM, a Deputy tried to pull over someone on a Honda Four Wheeler that was driving on a road in Salisbury, but instead of stopping the ATV took off at a high rate of speed towards Ocean Gateway in an apparent attempt to elude the deputy.
According to the report, the Deputy lost the 4-wheeler around Booth Street, but later located the vehicle under a tarp behind a home on Powhatan Boulevard. The Sheriff’s Office says the Deputy found that the engine was still warm on the ATV, and that it had been reported as stolen.
The driver was apparently no where to be found, but the Four Wheeler was impounded. Investigators say the driver, 30-year-old Melvin Gamble, reported to the Sheriff’s Office later that day, and admitted to riding the Four Wheeler and attempting to elude the Deputy. He reportedly told the Deputy that he had acquired the ATV several months ago, from an unnamed subject.
Gamble was then placed under arrest, and was charged with motor vehicle theft, theft over $1,000 and less than $10,000, operating an unregistered vehicle, operating an uninsured vehicle, driving without a license, and attempt to flee and elude. He was then ordered to be held on a $25,000 bond at the Wicomico County Detention Center.
