Operation Gobble Gobble helps 40 families

40 Sussex County families will have Delaware State Police to thank this Thanksgiving for making sure they have food on the table.
The food collection initiative is called Operation Gobble Gobble. According to Sergeant Richard Bratz, the Community Outreach Unit partners with local churches to accept donations in early November. They made stops in Seaford and Middletown dropping off the food on Tuesday.
Pastor Dan Southern of the Stein Highway Church Of God says there were about 15 volunteers who helped distribute on Tuesday.
“When it comes to the needy it’s not just the state police’s problem, it’s not just the church’s problem, it’s the community’s problem and we need to address it as a community when that individual and different group comes together to make sure that we don’t have any hungry people on Thanksgiving.” Explained Pastor Southern.
Pastor Southern says although the generosity around the holidays is appreciated, hunger is a year-round problem. Anyone who is interested in contributing, is urged to donate to LoveInc.
