Marydel man killed in fatal crash

Maryland State Police are investigating after a Marydel man was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning.

According to police, the crash happened around 4:45 a.m. near Crown Stone Road and Stafford Road.

When troopers arrived on the scene, they reportedly found a car overturned in a field. The driver has been identified as 25-year-old Desiderio Vasquez Perez.

Preliminary investigations indicate Perez was traveling southbound on Crown Stone Road when he failed to negotiate a right turn, crossed the centerline, left the roadway on the northbound side, and rolled over before finally coming to rest in a field.

Police say the factors may include not wearing a seatbelt and the possible use of alcohol.

The investigation is ongoing.
