Man arrested after fleeing from police

Harrington Police have arrested a man after he allegedly tried to flee from police on a motorcycle.

22-year-old Frederica man Ryan Hacker was arrested Thursday after an officer observed a green motorcycle traveling west on Clark Street. According to police, the officer conducted a registration check and confirmed the registered owner of the motorcycle did not have a motorcycle endorsement. The registered owner also reportedly had an active capias out of Justice of the Peace Court 7.

When the officer attempted to stop the suspect, we’re told he failed to stop and continued westbound on Clark Street at a high rate of speed and passing vehicles in a no passing zone.

The chase continued onto Fleming Street at a high rate of speed through the parking lot of the WSFS Bank. After turning onto Dorman Street, police say Hacker lost control and laid the bike down.

Hacker then apparently got up and attempted to pick the motorcycle up. During this time, authorities say he was taken into custody.

Hacker was not injured and he was transported to the Harrington Police Department for processing.

He was charged with Disregarding a Police Officer Signal, Fail to drive a speed appropriate for conditions, two counts of unsafe passing on the left and No Motorcycle License.

Hacker was arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 7 for the charges and the Capias and released on a 600 dollar unsecured bond.
