Lincoln man accused of ramming woman with vehicle

A Lincoln man is facing charges in Milford, after Police say he rammed a woman with his vehicle.

On Thursday, Milford Police say an Officer responded to the Milford Bayhealth Hospital, where they met with a 34-year-old woman. The woman, according to Authorities, was being treated for injuries sustained during a domestic assault. Police say their investigation showed that 33-year-old Carlos Hernandez and the woman were arguing, causing the woman to turn and walk away, at which Hernandez hit her several times from behind.

Hernandez then reportedly fled from the home, while the victim went to the hospital where she was treated for minor injuries to her back and neck.

According to Police, after the victim was released from the hospital, where she returned home, and as she pulled into the driveway, Hernandez then pulled in behind her. Police say Hernandez then maneuvered his vehicle to face the victim’s while she was still inside.

Hernandez then apparently rammed his vehicle into the victim’s, head on. Investigators say Hernandez then got out, went up to the victim’s window, and started banging on it, in an apparent attempt to break it, but he wasn’t able to, and again fled the area in his vehicle. Police say Hernandez had already been ordered to not to have any contact with the victim, stemming from a domestic incident that occurred in February of 2015.

Milford Police says with some help from the Delaware State Police, they apprehended Hernandez near Lincoln. He was then charged with stalking, assault 3rd degree and criminal contempt/ violation of a domestic violence protection order from the first incident and then aggravated menacing, stalking, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, reckless endangering 2nd degree, criminal contempt/ violation of a domestic violence protection order, disorderly conduct, leaving the scene of an accident, driving while suspended or revoked and other traffic offenses in the second incident.

Hernandez is now behind bars on a $36,800 bond, at the Sussex Correctional Institution.
