Just Zoo It collects 16K cans

Tuesday important day for this year’s Just Zoo It campaign, after 16,000 soda cans were made specifically to collect money for the Salisbury Zoo.

Day organizers cracked the cans open for a first look at the loot on Tuesday.

Each student from Dorchester, Wicomico, Worcester, and Somerset counties got a can to raise their own money. Halloween trick-or-treating was a popular night for it as usual.

All proceeds benefit the zoo.

Ashley Bosche of the Delmarva Zoological Society says the class that raises the most this year will be rewarded with a VIP trip to the Zoo in the spring.

“This year is exceptionally important because we’re raising funds for Andean Bear Project at the Zoo and this is its most exciting day in part of the campaign in opening up the cans.” Explains Bosche.

Their goal is 30,000 dollars.

Winners will be announced from each county in mid-December.
