Hunter injured by arrow shot from tree stand in Millsboro

Wildlife officials are investigating, after they say a hunter was hit with an arrow in Millsboro, on Thursday evening.

Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control Division of Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police say around 5:45 PM, a 54-year-old hunter, who was in a tree stand, shot an arrow from his compound bow, that then struck a 24-year-old victim in the abdomen. Officials say the victim was about 30 yards away from the tree stand, on the ground, on the edge of a farm field near Millsboro.

Investigators say the victim was air-lifted to Beebe Medical Center in Lewes by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit, before being stabilized, and airlifted again to a Maryland hospital, where he underwent surgery on Friday.

No charges have been filed at this time, according to Sgt. John McDerby, Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police.
