Hearn Building awarded tax credit from Dept. of Planning

According to the Maryland Department of Planning, the Hearn Building in downtown Cambridge, that partially collapsed last month, has been awarded some major tax credits.

On Monday, the department announced the six recipients of the latest round of Sustainable Communities Tax Credits, with the Hearn Building receiving more than $959,034.40 in credits.

The plan is for the building to be restored and re-purposed to house rental residential apartments and retail spaces.

Officials say right now they do have a potential buyer.
