HALO men’s shelter looking to expand

A men’s shelter run by Halo Ministries is just a month away from its one-year anniversary, and it’s looking to expand.

The shelter is located within a facility on South Boulevard and Eastern Shore Drive.

According to organization director Celeste Savage, they’re are now looking to buy the entire facility. This is to accommodate the influx of people in need.

Savage says the shelter currently houses about 55 beds, and it apparently reaches maximum capability on a consistent basis.

She says many of the men seeking shelter tend to be *young*.

“If you look at the rental cost of homes and the jobs that are available for kids just coming out of high school and a lot times, and the decisions they made back early on has its effects, and its making it very difficult to find good paying jobs.” Explained Savage,

As of Tuesday, officials say they are still talking about the potential purchase so nothing is official yet.

We’re told they will have a clearer picture of their plans by the first of the new year.
